Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin was carted to the locker room with an apparent knee injury during Monday night's game against the 49ers and was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

The team did not immediately disclose the severity of the injury, though Ian Rapoport described it as potentially serious. McLaurin went down early at Levi's Stadium and needed help getting off the field, with players from both teams gathering around as he was loaded onto the cart.

The loss is a major blow to Washington's offense. McLaurin is the Commanders' top receiver and most reliable target for quarterback Jayden Daniels, and his absence reshapes the passing attack for the rest of the night. Washington still has Stefon Diggs in the lineup, but the unit is now operating without its No. 1 option on a nationally televised stage.

McLaurin has been the anchor of the Commanders' receiving corps since arriving in the league, and further testing will determine how long he is sidelined.
