Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will not be placed on injured reserve after all, with sources telling Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport that he is now considered week-to-week after imaging on his dislocated left elbow was evaluated and multiple specialists were consulted.

The update lands after a week of uncertainty over the extent of the injury Daniels suffered in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. Washington and the quarterback both say the aim is to get him back as soon as possible, and avoiding the injured-reserve list — which would have forced a minimum four-week absence — keeps the door open for a quicker return.
Rapoport followed up by noting that as of now Daniels has only been ruled out of this weekend's game against the Seahawks, the first concrete sign of a timetable taking shape.
There is still no firm return date, but the week-to-week designation and the cautious optimism from both sides suggest the Commanders are planning around a shorter absence than originally feared. Marcus Mariota remains in line to start Sunday in that case.
