The Los Angeles Chargers' winless start continued in Kansas City, where the Chiefs held them to two field goals in a 22-6 defeat. Los Angeles is 0-6 for the first time since 2000, according to Adam Schefter.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): After today’s loss in Kansas City, this is the Chargers’ first 0-6 start since 2000.
The Chargers did not score a touchdown. Justin Herbert went 22-of-37 for 204 yards with an interception, and Kansas City held a 19-6 lead after three quarters before adding another field goal. Los Angeles' offense finished with little room to make up ground despite keeping Patrick Mahomes out of the end zone as a passer.
Kenneth Walker III provided the Chiefs' touchdowns on runs of 33 and 2 yards. He gained 128 yards on 19 carries, giving Kansas City a reliable rushing answer while Mahomes threw for 272 yards. The final margin reflected that difference in finishing drives: the Chiefs scored twice on the ground, and the Chargers never crossed the goal line.
The result also followed another in-game setback for Los Angeles. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey was ruled out with a concussion, as the desk reported earlier Sunday. That absence is a separate concern from the final score, but both will be part of the Chargers' accounting of a sixth straight loss.
