Chargers C Tyler Biadasz carted off; Johnston, Kennard also injured in 49ers joint practice
Los Angeles lost three players in a joint practice with San Francisco on Tuesday, headlined by the starting center being carted off after a defensive tackle fell on his left knee.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): During one practice today against the 49ers, Chargers center Tyler Biadasz, linebacker Kyle Kennard and wide receiver Quentin Johnston all were injured.
The Los Angeles Chargers saw their starting center leave a Tuesday joint practice against the San Francisco 49ers on a cart, and he was not the only one to go down. According to Adam Schefter, center Tyler Biadasz, linebacker Kyle Kennard and wide receiver Quentin Johnston were all injured during the session.
Biadasz, who signed a three-year, $30 million free-agent deal with the Chargers this offseason, was carted off after 49ers defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez fell on his left knee during 11-on-11 work, per Chargers beat reporting. He was unable to put weight on the leg. The severity is not yet known, but the timing is brutal for an offensive line already thin on proven interior depth with the regular-season opener closing in.
Johnston, a former first-round pick, and Kennard, a rookie edge rusher, also exited the practice with injuries. The Chargers and 49ers meet again in a preseason setting later this week, but the bigger concern is whether any of the three misses meaningful time. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has not yet offered a public timeline.
