Broncos add veteran safety Taylor Rapp after his release from Buffalo
Denver signed former Bills safety Taylor Rapp on Thursday, giving a thin secondary a veteran presence for the back end of the defense.
The Denver Broncos have added some depth on the back end, signing veteran safety Taylor Rapp after his release from the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason. The move was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and confirmed by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet): Source: Former #Bills safety Taylor Rapp has signed with the #Broncos today. Some secondary help.
Rapp, 28, spent the past three seasons in Buffalo after beginning his career with the Los Angeles Rams, who selected him in the second round of the 2019 draft. He appeared in just six games for the Bills in 2025 because of a knee injury and was released in March. Over 93 career games (72 starts), the Rams-era starter has recorded 12 interceptions and 31 passes defensed.
Denver's secondary has been a work in progress, and Rapp's arrival brings a proven, versatile piece who can line up deep or near the box. The Broncos host Green Bay in Week 2 of the preseason on Friday, where the new addition could get his first live reps in orange and blue. With cutdowns approaching, Rapp's experience makes him a logical candidate to claim a roster spot as the team sorts out its safety rotation.
