Veteran DE Marcus Davenport visits Bears as pass-rush need grows

Veteran edge rusher Marcus Davenport visited the Chicago Bears on Sunday, per Mike Garafolo, as the club scans the market for pass-rush help.

Davenport, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2018 draft by New Orleans, has previously been with two other NFC North clubs — the Lions and the Vikings — giving him familiarity with the division. The Bears, who have dealt with injuries and depth questions along the defensive front, could be a natural fit if a deal comes together.

With the preseason winding down and roster cutdowns approaching, Chicago's interest in a proven veteran off the edge is the kind of late-August homework teams do when they sense a need.
