Bears S Coby Bryant to undergo knee surgery, out 4-6 months
Coby Bryant's first season in Chicago will be lost to a knee injury, per MySportsUpdate.
The Chicago Bears' offseason secondary upgrade has taken a devastating turn. Safety Coby Bryant is undergoing knee surgery and will be out four to six months, according to MySportsUpdate.
Bryant, a Super Bowl champion, signed a lucrative three-year, $40 million deal with Chicago this offseason after arriving from Seattle. The expectation was that he would immediately fortify the back end of the Bears' defense.
My Sports Update (@MySportsUpdate): "Breaking: #Bears S Coby Bryant is undergoing knee surgery and will be out 4-6 months. Chicago signed Bryant to a lucrative 3-year, $40M deal this offseason, bringing the Super Bowl champion over from Seattle. Brutal."
Losing Bryant for the bulk of the 2026 season is a significant blow to a Bears defense that invested heavily in the secondary. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler called the news "brutal" and noted Bryant had been a major free-agency addition for Chicago.
Chicago will now need to lean on other options at safety as it sorts out the depth chart. The four-to-six-month timeline puts Bryant's return somewhere in the middle of the regular season at the earliest, and the club will manage his recovery carefully.
