The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Eli Apple, according to MySportsUpdate.

Pro Football Talk confirmed the Apple signing and reported the 49ers also added defensive lineman Xavier Thomas in the same move. Apple brings NFL starting experience in the secondary to a San Francisco defense that has dealt with depth questions in the defensive backfield. Thomas gives the club another body along the defensive line as it shapes the front rotation.
The pair of additions continues a active day of transactions for the 49ers, who also reached agreement with running back Zamir White. The terms of Apple's deal were not immediately disclosed by the reporting. San Francisco is clearly using the back half of camp to shore up multiple position groups before the preseason wraps.
