49ers' Mike Evans exits practice with precautionary quad tightness

San Francisco wide receiver Mike Evans left Tuesday's session early with a wrap on his quad, but Kyle Shanahan called it precautionary.

San Francisco 49ers receiver Mike Evans left Tuesday's practice early, but the team is not sounding any alarms.

Beat writer Cam Inman reported that Evans came out with left quad "tightness" as a precaution, iced it and watched the remainder of the session. David Lombardi noted Evans left with a wrap around his quad but that Shanahan characterized it as precautionary.

The 49ers are managing their receiving corps carefully in camp, and a precautionary exit is a far cry from a serious injury. Evans, a veteran target, is expected to be fine, though the club will monitor him ahead of the next practice.

San Francisco has dealt with its share of soft-tissue scares this summer, so the cautious handling is on-brand. For now, the Evans issue appears minor.
