Kittle is practicing this week and moving into team drills as the 49ers prepare to travel to Australia, and coach Kyle Shanahan said last week's comment that Kittle had "taken a step back" was not meant to suggest his timeline had changed. "George has been great. He's passing everything," Shanahan said, clarifying the return to team practice is about working back into full contact, not a setback.
The 49ers will practice the next three days before departing for Melbourne. Shanahan said it wasn't necessary to know Kittle's status before leaving, though it would be preferable to decide before the trip. Defensive end Nick Bosa also is expected back on the practice field this week as San Francisco gears up for the Rams in the opener.
