49ers' Dre Greenlaw on Sean Payton: 'I told him to get the f*** off the field'

49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw said he told Sean Payton to "get the f*** off the field" during Sunday's win over the Broncos, and that the Denver coach's treatment of him fueled the moment.

Greenlaw said Payton hadn't spoken to him since November of last season and didn't even tell him he was being cut. "He couldn't be man-to-man and call my phone and say, 'We're going to cut you,'" Greenlaw said, via Eric Branch. The comments came after Greenlaw and Payton had a heated exchange on the sideline during San Francisco's 24-14 victory.

Greenlaw, who spent time with the Broncos before returning to the 49ers, made clear the perceived disrespect stuck with him. The exchange adds another layer to a matchup that already carried tension, and Greenlaw's postgame comments underscored how personal the game felt for him. The 49ers improved to 4-0 with the win.
