The San Francisco 49ers' Wednesday practice plan had Nick Bosa and Mike Evans sitting out as the team prepared for the Atlanta Falcons. Bosa is dealing with a calf issue, while Evans was listed with an Achilles issue; neither has been ruled out of the game, according to Cam Inman's account of the plan.
Cam Inman (@CamInman): 49ers practice plan today per KS NOT PARTICIPATING WR Deebo Samuel (hammy) WR Mike Evans (Achilles) DE Mykel Williams (knee) DE Nick Bosa (calf; possibly tmw) LB Garrett Wallow LB Luke Gifford S Siran Neal CB Upton Stout S Marques Sigle
Bosa may be able to practice Thursday, according to the plan Inman relayed. That makes his next appearance at practice a more useful gauge than Wednesday's absence alone. The 49ers have another session to assess the defensive end before the week's game-status decision, and there is a meaningful difference between sitting out the opening practice plan and being ruled out of a matchup.
The list extended beyond those two names. Deebo Samuel was on the nonparticipation plan with a hamstring issue, and defensive end Mykel Williams was listed with a knee issue. Inman also listed linebackers Garrett Wallow and Luke Gifford, safeties Siran Neal and Marques Sigle, and cornerback Upton Stout among those not participating. The next practice reports will matter more than treating the entire Wednesday nonparticipation list as established Sunday absences. For now, the two most prominent questions are whether Bosa can work Thursday and whether Evans progresses enough to be available against the Falcons.
