Steelers' DK Metcalf cleared to play vs. Bucs; Pat Freiermuth now questionable with calf injury

Pittsburgh's injury report shifted Saturday as Metcalf was removed after a brief illness while Freiermuth was added with a calf issue

The Pittsburgh Steelers' injury picture cleared up for one key weapon while clouding another Saturday, as wide receiver DK Metcalf was taken off the injury report while tight end Pat Freiermuth was added as questionable for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Metcalf had been listed as questionable earlier this week with an illness but is now fully cleared and expected to play. His presence gives quarterback Aaron Rodgers a full complement of weapons against a Buccaneers defense that has struggled against the pass this season.

Freiermuth's calf injury came as a surprise — he was not listed on Friday's injury report. The tight end has been one of Pittsburgh's most reliable targets this season and his status adds uncertainty to the Steelers' passing game plans. If Freiermuth cannot go, the Steelers would turn to Darnell Washington and MyCole Pruitt in the tight end rotation.
