New Orleans' first punt of the 2026 preseason traveled 55 yards off the foot of newly-signed veteran Ryan Wright, and beat writer Mike Triplett noted the "dark days of Saints punting experiments" are officially over. Wright brings NFL experience to a position the club had been cycling through.
Special teams consistency is often overlooked but matters in field-position battles, and Wright's signing gives the Saints a steady option heading into the regular season. His first live rep traveling 55 yards is a strong early indication the team got the leg it wanted.
