Sean McVay: Rams sticking with Bubba Ventrone at special teams coordinator
Sean McVay backed special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone on Tuesday, saying no changes are coming at that spot after a rough week for the Rams' special teams
The Rams made a change at kicker this week, but Sean McVay made clear Tuesday that no change is coming at the top of his special teams operation.

McVay, unprompted, offered a vote of confidence for special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone when asked about the state of the unit, saying he has a lot of confidence in him and that no changes are going to be made there — a pointed answer after a turbulent few days for the group.
The statement arrives on the same day Los Angeles released kicker Harrison Mevis and signed Blake Grupe off the Jets' practice squad, a shakeup McVay telegraphed after Monday night's 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills, when the kicking operation's troubles helped decide the game. The coach said after that defeat that the PAT/field goal operation was "not even close to good enough."
The message Tuesday draws a line: the kicker was the problem, not the coordinator. The kicker change was the first domino; McVay's remarks confirm the coordinator stays in place while the club works to stabilize a unit that has been a recurring issue this season.
