"Unnamed sources? Let me just tell you why I'm here," Vrabel said. "I'm here because Drake was the QB. Believe it or not, I had choices to where I wanted to coach. I wanted to coach here because Drake was the QB."
The quote is a firm denial of any rift, and a clear signal that Vrabel sees Maye as the centerpiece of the franchise. It shuts down a storyline that had circulated about the Patriots' quarterback situation.
For New England, the clarity is useful as the team works through a season in which Maye's progress remains the top priority. Vrabel's comments reinforce that the quarterback and head coach are aligned, with the relationship a foundation of the rebuild.
