The Patriots are signing guard Greg Van Roten to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Van Roten, 32, started for the New York Giants across the last two seasons and now lands in Foxborough, where the Patriots are reshaping the front around their young core.
Adding a player with Van Roten's snap count and positional flexibility gives New England insurance up the middle as it sorts out the line entering the season. He has bounced around the league — Green Bay, Detroit, Buffalo and the Giants among his stops — and brings the kind of steady, experienced presence teams value in camp and along the depth chart.
