A costly special-teams mistake has cost a young Panther his roster spot. Carolina has waived wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., its sixth-round pick in 2025 out of Colorado, after he muffed a punt Sunday against Chicago.
Horn's rookie year was as a developmental prospect: 11 catches in 13 games with contributions in the return game, per Mike Garafolo. But the muffed punt in the loss to the Bears led the club to move on within two days.

The open roster spot goes to the other side of the ball. ESPN reports the Panthers are signing linebacker Dodson from the practice squad to the active roster, a move that restocks the second level rather than directly replacing Horn's return duties. Carolina will sort out its return game with other options while the new linebacker depth settles in.
