Micah Parsons will not practice this week, Packers not ruling out Week 8 return

The Packers' star edge rusher remains on the PUP list while still working his way back from last season's torn ACL, but LaFleur didn't rule out a ramp-up for the short week after

Micah Parsons will have to wait at least one more week before taking the practice field.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Monday that Parsons will not practice this week, meaning he will not be formally designated for return from the physically unable to perform list ahead of Green Bay's Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions.

LaFleur stopped short of ruling out a Week 8 return, however, noting the possibility of a short-week ramp-up. The Packers host the Panthers on Thursday night in Week 8. "I think there are things you can do on a short week if you've got a guy like that to get him primed and ready to go," LaFleur said. "He's gotta clear some hurdles before we get to that point."

Parsons expressed caution last week about avoiding any "overcompensation injury" upon his return from last season's torn ACL. The Packers' win over the Cowboys improved their record to 5-1. The defense has been one of the NFL's best without him, but the prospect of adding a former Defensive Player of the Year candidate in the middle of the season carries obvious weight — even if the timeline remains measured in weeks, not days. }
