The Giants are signing veteran wide receiver and returner Braxton Berrios to their active roster, a move that shores up special teams on the same day the club parted ways with Odell Beckham Jr.

Adam Schefter reported the signing. Berrios had been working off the practice squad as the club's primary returner through the season's first three weeks, and the promotion secures his place on the 53-man roster.

Berrios, an eight-year veteran who has appeared in 94 career games with six starts across stops with the Jets, Dolphins, Texans and Giants, gives New York a proven hand on punt and kick returns. He has averaged 6.0 yards per punt return and 27.6 yards per kick return on the young season.

The move comes as the Giants reshape their receiver room — releasing Beckham leaves Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze atop the depth chart, with Berrios adding special-teams value and depth at the position.
