Ben Standig (@BenStandig): OT Laremy Tunsil (triceps surgery) and DT Johnny Newton (pectoral surgery) will be placed on IR-DTR (designated to return) on Monday. All six draft selections made the cut. 7 WR including Luke McCaffrey. 5 LB Including Kain Medrano
Tunsil is recovering from triceps surgery and Newton from pectoral surgery; both will be eligible to return later in the season under the IR-DTR designation. Standig adds that rookie cornerback Trey Amos (ankle) was also placed on IR-DTR and will miss the first four games, while running back Jeremy McNichols (quad) joins him on the list.
Losing Tunsil — one of the league's premier left tackles — and Newton, a key interior disruptor and Amos, simultaneously is a real test for Washington's depth on both sides of the ball early in the year.
