Moody, a former third-round pick, struggled throughout the summer and especially of late — he missed 4 of 6 kicks one day and bounced one off the right upright from 29 yards in the preseason opener. The Commanders have gotten steadier work from Drew Stevens, whose consistency is the deciding factor as the roster trims toward Week 1.
The move is expected to be processed as a release (Keim noted it was not yet official at the time of the report). For Washington, it closes the kicking competition in favor of the more reliable leg heading into the regular season.
