Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): More: Colts guard Matt Goncalves also was fined $8,847 for engaging Sunday night in what the NFL called an offensive demonstration. “Your imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration…in poor taste.” After Tyler Warren scored, he gave the football to Gonclaves, who pretended to pop off its top and celebrate.
The fine comes after the league docked 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 for a similar beer-chugging celebration. After Tyler Warren scored, he handed the football to Goncalves, who pretended to pop off its top and celebrate, drawing the league's attention for the pantomime it said was in poor taste.
The back-to-back fines signal the league is cracking down on the beer-chug gesture making its way onto fields this season. Juszczyk reportedly plans to appeal his fine, and it remains to be seen whether Goncalves follows suit.
