Bears RB Kyle Monangai believed to be 'fine' after leaving practice with knee injury

Chicago RB Kyle Monangai, who exited practice Sunday with a knee injury, is believed to be fine after initial tests showed his knee structurally sound, though he will undergo an MRI to confirm

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai left practice Sunday after injuring his knee, but early indications suggest the issue is not serious.

Per Adam Schefter, initial tests showed Monangai's knee to be structurally sound, and the second-year back is believed to be 'fine.' The club will still send him for an MRI to confirm there is no deeper damage before clearing him.

Monangai has been working to carve out a role in a crowded Chicago backfield, and any missed time in camp would slow that pursuit. The Bears have kept their rushing attack a focal point, and a clean MRI would let Monangai resume the competition without interruption.

For now, the signal out of Lake Forest is reassuring. The MRI is precautionary, and the team's tone suggests it expects Monangai back on the field shortly.
