The 49ers have been in the market for offensive line reinforcement, and Patterson gives them an experienced interior option. For Houston, flipping Patterson after acquiring him in the earlier Nathan Thomas deal underscores a busy cutdown-day on the line — the Texans added Thomas from Dallas and moved Patterson to San Francisco in the same window. San Francisco lands a known commodity at a position of need as it shapes the 53-man roster.
