Seahawks place Jake Bobo on season-ending IR, sign Julian Hicks
Bobo's knee injury from Friday's joint practice with the Titans will cost him the entire season, and Seattle filled the open roster spot with an undrafted receiver.
The worst-case scenario on Jake Bobo's knee was confirmed Saturday: the Seahawks placed the receiver on season-ending injured reserve, one day after he was carted off during their joint practice with the Titans.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Seahawks placed WR Jake Bobo on season-ending injured reserve, the result of the significant knee injury he suffered during Friday’s joint practice with the Titans. Seattle signed WR Julian Hicks to fill the open roster spot.
To fill the vacancy, Seattle signed wide receiver Julian Hicks. Bobo had been fighting for a depth spot in the receiving room after carving out a role as a reliable reserve over his first two seasons, making the timing of the non-contact-looking injury especially cruel with cutdown day approaching.
The move also clarifies the back end of the Seahawks' receiver competition — with Bobo out for the year, snaps and returns in the final preseason game become auditions for the spots behind the top of the depth chart.
