Ravens work out veteran WR Brandin Cooks with receiver room thinned
Baltimore brought the well-traveled veteran in for a Thursday workout, but no signing is imminent as the team looks for help behind an injured Zay Flowers

The Baltimore Ravens took a look at a veteran receiver on Thursday.
Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo): The #Ravens worked out veteran WR Brandin Cooks today, per the league’s transaction wire.
There is no deal yet. Garafolo reported minutes later that Baltimore has not agreed to terms with Cooks and that he is an option for the team moving forward rather than a player already on his way in.
The workout lands where the Ravens' receiver room stands in Week 2. Zay Flowers has now missed two straight practices with a hamstring injury, and rookie Ja'Kobi Lane went on injured reserve earlier this week after wrist surgery. That leaves Baltimore looking for depth behind its starters ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints.
Cooks, who finished last season with the Bills after signing in Week 13, remains unsigned. A workout is the standard first step for a team and a veteran in that spot: the club gets a look at his condition and his fit, then decides whether to offer a roster spot at all.
Nothing about Thursday's visit obligates the Ravens to sign him, and the team has given no timeline for a decision.
