Rams hopeful rookie OL Keagan Trost back before Week 1; Quessenberry swing if not
Sean McVay said the Rams are hopeful rookie lineman Keagan Trost can return before the Week 1 game in Australia, with David Quessenberry the swing tackle otherwise.
The Los Angeles Rams are dealing with a setback on the offensive line, but coach Sean McVay framed it as temporary.
Nate Atkins (@NateAtkins_): Sean McVay said they’re hopeful Keagan Trost can be back before Week 1 in Australia. Tough setback for a rookie, but the hope is it’s temporary. If he’s not back by then, David Quessenberry should be the swing tackle.
Rookie lineman Keagan Trost is dealing with an injury that McVay said the team is hopeful will clear before the Rams' Week 1 game in Australia. The coach called it a tough break for a first-year player but emphasized the expectation is that it's not a long-term issue. If Trost isn't ready by kickoff, veteran David Quessenberry would slide in as the swing tackle.
The Rams have been juggling tackle spots in camp — Quessenberry had been working at both left and right tackle while Trost (and others) were in the mix. Trost's absence would thin the depth chart at a position group where the Rams have been deliberate about building flexibility. McVay's comments suggest the club expects to have its preferred alignment sorted well before the opener, but the next week of practice will be the real test.
