The Las Vegas Raiders will be without one of their young interior linemen for the rest of the preseason. Right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson did not practice on Tuesday, instead watching in street clothes, after leaving Monday's session early with trainers.
Sam Warren (@samwarren83): Klint Kubiak said he doesn't expect RG Jackson Powers-Johnson to play in the preseason game against Houston. Powers-Johnson didn't practice today, but was here in street clothes. Kubiak said the team wants to be “cautious” after he was injured on Monday.
With Powers-Johnson out, Caleb Rogers — who had been rotating at the position before the injury — took all of the first-team reps at right guard, per the beat's practice notes. That continuity is worth watching: Rogers' ability to hold the spot against Houston's front will be a live audition with the regular season three weeks out.
The setback is the latest in a frustrating injury run for Powers-Johnson, who has battled availability issues through camp. The Raiders have leaned on their depth up front all summer, and keeping the former second-round pick healthy for Week 1 is now the priority over any remaining preseason snaps.
