The Miami Dolphins have added another arm to a quarterback room that was left thin over the weekend. The Packers are sending second-year QB Kyle McCord to Miami in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): Trade: Packers are sending QB Kyle McCord to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2028 6th-round pick, per sources. After trading Quinn Ewers to the Jaguars, the Dolphins needed a new backup for Malik Willis. Now the Dolphins have two former Packers QBs.
The move comes one day after Miami traded for Quinn Ewers, a deal that itself followed the club's decision to move on from its previous backup depth. With McCord now in the fold, the Dolphins have a trio of former Packers-flavored quarterbacks behind Malik Willis as they sort out the back of the roster before Tuesday's cutdown.
McCord, a 2024 sixth-round pick, who had a 4TD performance in the final preseason game showed enough in preseason work to draw interest, and the Packers were able to turn his emergence into future draft capital. Green Bay, meanwhile, keeps Tyrod Taylor behind Jordan Love and will head into the season comfortable with its top two at the position.
