Jets WR Adonai Mitchell drawing buzz as a 'steal' from the Colts
Once viewed as a throw-in in the Sauce Gardner trade, Adonai Mitchell has emerged as a real weapon in Jets camp, per Rich Cimini via MySportsUpdate.
A former Colts wideout is turning heads in Florham Park.
Per ESPN's Rich Cimini, relayed by MySportsUpdate, Jets receiver Adonai Mitchell has "emerged as a real weapon and seems to have found a home" in New York. Cimini noted that Mitchell was widely viewed as a throw-in in the Sauce Gardner trade before developing into "the talk of the offseason" with how he progressed — and that the Jets "think they got a steal from the Colts."
Mitchell, a former second-round pick in Indianapolis, never fully broke through with the Colts despite flashes of physical tools. The framing out of Jets camp suggests a change of scenery may be unlocking the potential that made him a high draft pick in the first place.

What it means: Camp buzz is cheap until it shows up on Sundays, but a receiver who was a throw-in in a blockbuster trade now being described as a "steal" is exactly the kind of low-cost upside the Jets' remodel needs around their core. If Mitchell's offseason progress carries into games, New York could have unearthed a contributor where other teams saw a castoff.
