The Jets have added a couple of wide receivers to their roster for Sunday's game in Detroit, signing Jamaal Pritchett to the active roster and elevating Sterling Shepard from the practice squad.
Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter): With wide receiver AD Mitchell listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Lions, the Jets signed WR Jamaal Pritchett to their active roster and elevated WR Sterling Shepard from their practice squad.
The moves come with the Jets short on healthy wideouts. Adonai Mitchell is listed as questionable with a finger injury, and the team put Omar Cooper on injured reserve ahead of Week 2, thinning the group further.
Shepard, the longtime Giant, signed with the Jets last week and had 39 receptions for 371 yards and a touchdown with the Buccaneers last season. Pritchett spent last season on the practice squad and has never appeared in a regular-season game.
The Jets also elevated kicker Jason Sanders for the third time this season, which means they'll have to sign him to the active roster or make another choice at kicker in Week 4. For now, the additions give New York's offense more options as it looks to get to 2-1 against a Lions defense that ranks 31st in the league.
