The Jacksonville Jaguars are moving on from tight end Hunter Long. The 2021 third-round pick is headed to the Arizona Cardinals in a trade that sends a 2028 seventh-rounder to Jacksonville, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported.

Arizona acquires Long after one season in Jacksonville, adding a depth piece at tight end as teams finalize their 53-man rosters. The Cardinals gave up a late-round pick to bring in a player with familiarity in multiple schemes.

For the Jaguars, the deal is part of a flurry of cutdown-week maneuvering. Jacksonville had already traded for quarterback Quinn Ewers and released veteran Nick Mullens on Sunday, so moving Long continues a reshaping of the back end of the roster.

Long, who entered the league as a third-round selection by the Dolphins in 2021, has bounced between practice squads and active rosters during his career. The Cardinals are betting a change of scenery can unlock a steadier contributor at a position where depth is always tested by injuries.
