Ben Standig (@BenStandig): Dan Quinn didn’t like the "disarray" he saw in Detroit. The Commanders went back to work Monday. Plus, an update on Jacory Croskey-Merritt's groin injury (among many players out for Ravens week) and the center plan.
Croskey-Merritt's issue is recent — Ben Standig noted the back pulled up at the end of a catch-and-run in Thursday's practice — and the team is treating it as day-to-day rather than a long-term concern. With a number of key players unlikely to suit up Friday, depth at the skill spots is exactly where Washington can't afford a soft spot.
Ben Standig (@BenStandig): The Commanders worked out eight players before Monday's practice, including former Bills 2021 second-round pick, Boogie Basham: Carlos Basham — LB, Wake Forest
Beyond the injury front, the Commanders worked out eight players before Monday's practice, a group headlined by former Bills 2021 second-round pick Carlos "Boogie" Basham (LB) and rounded out by a mix of defensive backs and linemen. It's the kind of late-camp cattle call teams use to find bodies for the final exhibition and, potentially, the back end of the 53 or the practice squad.
The interior of the offensive line is also a live question. With Nick Allegretti still working back from a calf injury, Julian Good-Jones and Matt Gulbin have been taking the bulk of the center reps, and head coach Dan Quinn has said the team is still "digging" on the best path forward at the spot. How that sorts out over the next week will help define the depth chart Washington carries into Week 1.
