Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken acknowledged Saturday that the club is still working through what to do with the two quarterbacks at the bottom of its depth chart, Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green, with the deadline to reach 53 players less than 26 hours away.

Speaking to reporters after some cuts had already been made, Monken said the team "can't keep everybody" and that, like a lot of players, "we don't want to lose any good players that have a future with the Browns, so we've still got some discussions to have." He was effusive about both young passers, noting Gabriel's experience — he played last year and got more reps — and Green's athletic traits and clean operation in camp.

The Browns know their top two quarterbacks; the question is whether to keep either Gabriel or Green, expose them to waivers in hopes of landing them on the practice squad, or explore a trade. Gabriel, who posted a near-perfect 157.9 passer rating with three touchdown passes on 15 throws against the Patriots, could draw interest — with Atlanta, coached by former Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, cited as a logical fit given its own uncertainty under center. For now, Monken's final thoughts are still forming.
