The Bills have signed wide receiver Greg Dortch to the active roster from the practice squad, making official a move that was expected as he neared the final call-up from the practice squad.
Joe Buscaglia (@JoeBuscaglia): There's the Dortch move to the 53 which was on the way no matter what, but it was for Hancock, who suffered a hamstring injury in practice this week. That's a sneaky big loss for the Bills, considering his importance to special teams and role as the backup NCB to Dee Alford.
In a corresponding move, Buffalo placed defensive back Jordan Hancock on injured reserve with a hamstring injury he suffered in practice this week. Hancock missed Thursday and Friday's practice and played 13 defensive snaps and 42 on special teams in the first two games, totaling five tackles.
Dortch was elevated for the first two games and has been a key return man, bringing back five punts for 46 yards and five kicks for 133 yards. He's played four offensive snaps and 18 on special teams.
The Hancock loss is a sneaky big one for the Bills, given his importance to special teams and his role as the backup nickel cornerback to Dee Alford. With the Chargers coming to town Sunday, Buffalo will need to adjust its coverage units and secondary depth without him.
