The 49ers opened their shortened Week 5 practice week with a long injury list, headlined by a limited day for wide receiver Mike Evans as he works through the rib injury he played through in Sunday's win. Defensive end Nick Bosa was among those who did not practice.
Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner): #49ers anticipated participation report for Wednesday: DNP - DE Nick Bosa (calf), DT James Thompson Jr. (ankle), FB Kyle Juszczyk (knee), S Marques Sigle (ankle), CB Upton Stout (shoulder) Limited: DL Mykel Williams (knee), WR Mike Evans (ribs), RB Kaelon Black (illness)
Evans caught five passes for 76 yards against the Rams on Sunday while playing through the injured ribs. He was limited on Wednesday for the second straight week after missing two sessions last week before a limited Friday, per the team's practice report. His continued availability matters for a 49ers passing game that relies on him as a focal target.
Defensive end Mykel Williams (knee) also worked on a limited basis Wednesday as he continues to work his way back from the ACL injury that has sidelined him. The 49ers expect to activate him from the physically unable to perform list ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks, per the team.
Running back Kaelon Black (illness) was limited as well. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk (knee), safety Marques Sigle (ankle), cornerback Upton Stout (shoulder), defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. (ankle) and Bosa (knee/calf) did not practice, with the report noting Christian McCaffrey, Dre Greenlaw and Trent Williams were held out on veteran rest days.
